Day 66 - P90X - Back and Bi Plus Customize P90X For Specific Goals

Yesterday was a great workout day! My biceps received a massive pump and they are a little sore this morning (which is a good sign). Yesterday during the workout I hit failure at about the 8 to 10 rep on at least 5 of the routines. This means my selected weights are perfect for my specific goal of muscle building.
You have to remember that in order to build you must first tear it down. Work those muscles until they are screaming for you to stop and you are on your way.
Now do not confuse the "pump" (this is the time when your muscles feel huge and are full of blood during a workout) with growth. You see no growth actually happens during the workout. Instead "growth" happens during your resting periods. It is VITALY important to rest and eat the proper nutrients to allow your muscles to rebuild properly.
I will be posting a new series of P90X / Workout Tips in the very near future so stay tuned!
In the mean time I have been continuing to read Tony Horton's P90X blog. This program is turning out to be MUCH more than I originally believed! In the 17 years that I have been teaching fitness programs I have NEVER seen one (1) program that incorporates so much so effectively! With a strong base understanding of the base X programming, I now realize that I or you could use the X platform to customize to nearly any fitness level you could imagine.
- Power lifting, golf
- Swimming
- Bodybuilding
- Base core stabilization and much more.
So, to continue with the Customization series here is the next installment of Beachbody's:
Customizing P90X for Specific Goals: Part I By Steve Edwards
"Bigger, stronger, faster" is a great slogan, but from a training perspective, you don't want to try to achieve them at the same time. The P90X training system addresses mass, strength, and speed together. This is fine for most of us, but if your objective is to target only one of these areas, you'll want to customize the program. This is the first in a series of articles discussing how to customize P90X for different goals.
