Essential Fats Are Essential - But What About Other Fats?

Ahh fats... The good, bad and the ugly. There have been volumes written on the subject. But for the most part FAT gets a bad rap. In-fact saturated fat (mostly stemming from animal products) has received most of the brunt of all of the bad press.
But research is clear if you know how to read the reports that it is not saturated fats that are causing most of our problems. The real issue is processed foods!
Breads, cakes, cookies, crackers, cereal's, pasta, chemical additives and flavors and the BIG one partially hydrogenated fat/oil, these are more to blame for clogged arteries, blood issues and other blockages.
So my recommendation is before you throw out all of the red meat, first throw out ALL of your pre processed food items that are in your home! You will be much healthier and happier for it.
Now there are some “fats” that are GOOD for you. By now most people should have heard of them. They are called Essential Fatty Acids or EFA. These types of fats are used by the body for many vital functions and are needed on a daily basis. There are 2 ways to obtain EFA fats.
1) From plant sources Like but not limited too - Flax, borage, primrose, hemp and etc.
2) Fish specifically deep sea fish. Like but not limited to, cod, mackerel, krill and etc.
This post is not meant to be a comprehensive posting about EFA's. There are many books written on the subject. Go to Amazon or any local book store and you will have more than you need. Don't get to fussy about which EFA is best. Most writers / authors usually are slightly biased because they are selling a specific brand so thus there article / book will be slanted to say theirs is the "BEST". Instead start using any EFA and start to listen to your body. If your body likes it and is responding well then stick with it for a while. And then add another type at a later time to add some diversity to your diet. If your body does not like it then switch to something else.
Here are just a few ways in which EFA's can help.
· Helps rebuild and produce new cells.
· Helps with proper brain formation in infants and children.
· Helps elasticity of skin
· Helps to stabilize blood sugar levels if taken while eating
· Helps to destroy bad cholesterol in the body
· Helps lubricate the body from the inside out so that you will not need lotion.
I use a few brands to include Udo's Choice, Cod Liver Oil, Krill Oil at times and an EFA solution from BeachBody.
I hope this helps,
