Resistance Training - Your Best Ally (besides eating properly)

Getting in great shape usually means hitting the gym. And this one affiliation is what keeps millions of people from achieving true health. I have heard hundreds of excuses and reasons why someone cannot achieve proper health or make it to the gym (I can't afford it, I don't want to look beefy, I don't have time, I have children, etc.). But there is good news! The term "working out" just means MOVE YOUR BODY or GET TO WORK! We used to be a world that worked outdoors and worked our bodies from sun up to sundown. Now, manual labor has been replaced with customer service desk reps, call center reps, cashier clerks, computer technicians and a host of other non labor positions. So what is a person to do? Get back outside and work your body! Find something you love and do it. But just remember that working your muscles is the most critical component (besides eating properly of course) to restoring your body. On the average we lose 7% of our lean muscle mass every 10 years. · Helps to maintain a stable metabolism. Every one pound of muscle that you lose you lower your basal metabolic rate by fifty calories per day. This means that as you lose muscle, you would have to automatically lower how much you eat. This is impossible to maintain effectively and it is not healthy. · Helps to maintain bone density · Helps to maintain flexibility · Helps to maintain a youthful look · Helps to maintain a good posture · Helps to maintain circulation · Helps to maintain a healthy heart. And in doing so allows for greater blood flow to the extremities allowing individuals to reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease and diabetes.
